Nome of the Stone Valleys

After the Legion-Regime Wars, the territory south of the Skystone Peaks and north of the Great Canyon was dominated by the Terrasi, an alliance of Human, Dwarf and Elven earth Genasi families, who united into a single great dynasty. Their centres of power were located in the natural bastions of great, glacial valleys, overlooked by impassable ridges and defended with towering walls. From here, they projected control over a vast area, and controlled great armies.
Secured against their military strength by the width of the Peaks, it was the Orosi who were uniquely placed to broker a deal to include the Terassi in The Blessed Concordance. They achieved this with the support of the Terassi Crown Prince, Lonra Terass, who used the occasion to break away from her family, incorporating her private estate in the Concordance as the Nome of the Skyward Ridge.
The Terassi Union has maintained power in the Stone Valleys for the past two millennia, but the makeup of the Union has shifted, as family lines are incorporated or fail. The only constant is that they remain a true genasi dynasty, always favouring the true-born earth genasi members. The Nome is ruled by the Geront, the senior – although not always actually the oldest – earth genasi of the Union. The other electors of the nome are the Pergeronts of the Cities – Hearthhold, Homeshield and Wealdhaven, the three original valley fortresses – the Pergeront of Vertix – a city built on the border with the territory of the Great Canyon – the Primarchs of the Archon in Hearthold and the Builder in Vertix, and – thanks to some carefully worded treaty clauses – the Prince of Skyward Ridge.
