Galen Rosso-Aguri
Galen Aguri
Biological parent of Halessa Aguri, a bit separate from the family. He fathered Halessa and stays on good terms with Thalia, but spent more time with his wife Devotion (Dev for short) and his children Oritari, Erxes, and Serrif.
Galen Rosso-Aguri is a calm, calculating man with a voice like low thunder and an expression that rarely changes from stoic neutrality. Born of a drow father and human mother, Galen’s mixed heritage forced him to straddle two worlds that didn’t quite accept him, molding him into a quiet but emotionally distant person who preferred to keep things under control. His dark, midnight-toned skin is a legacy of his drow lineage, but his soft grey hair and perpetually-tired violet eyes speak of someone who’s carried the weight of personal failure for too long. Galen carries himself with the silent patience of someone who’s always waiting for the other shoe to drop, yet despite his composed demeanor, he can be remarkably sharp when his family or principles are on the line.
In his youth, Galen had a brief but tumultuous relationship with Thalia Aguri, a headstrong and resourceful woman tied to the power struggles within Mienica. Their relationship produced Halessa, but it didn’t last long, as Galen never felt entirely comfortable in the Aguri family's intense, ambition-driven world. When Thalia eventually moved on with another partner and had Saran Aguri, Galen faded into the background, never fully engaged with Halessa’s upbringing.
Eventually, Galen found peace with Devotion Rosso (nicknamed Dev)—or at least as much peace as he was capable of giving. Though he tries his best to be a present father to their children, his emotional reserve sometimes makes him feel more like a shadow in the household. He loves his children in his own quiet way but struggles to show it in ways that matter to them. He views Seriff’s departure to the Monastery as abandonment, interpreting it as his son walking away from the family just as he once distanced himself from Halessa. His relationship with Erxes is complicated by his tendency to be overly critical, though he secretly admires his son’s dedication to his family. Meanwhile, Oritari’s involvement with The Shade unsettles him, though he knows better than to try to interfere.
Galen often reflects on the path his life took, comparing it to the missed opportunities with Halessa. Though he tries to remain steady and practical, these lingering regrets sometimes bleed into his interactions with his children, making him more distant than he intends to be.
