Pateras, the All Father

Pateras. The All Father. Creator of Aither, and father of all. He has many titles, being the first of two beings to arrive at the astral sea that surrounded Ultis, the Primordial of Time. He was soon followed by his partner, Mitera, the Mother of Wrath, and the two began to create, building a world from nothing, using their infinite power and imagination to craft Aither, bit by bit. He began with the realm he would call his home. A realm of perfection. A realm of light. He created Elysium, banishing the darkness of the astral sea with his own splendor, having Mitera purge the astral sea itself to make room for his creation. This would be the pattern for many millennia after, as Mitera would purge all from existence so that Pateras could build upon it, destroying any mistakes he made along the way. Despite both of them being of infinite power, they required each other to create a world from nothing, as creation and destruction have always gone hand in hand.

The Primordial Children

Continuing to forge the world, choosing to create it realm by realm before unifying it all, doing this from his celestial throne, he realised that he required beings of lesser power to create beings to populate the world he would create. Before the creation of Aither, both the Primordials had never needed to limit their own powers for any reason, allowing it to radiate from them indefinitely, and the creation of equal beings could disrupt everything they had done up until this point, with Ultis sheltering himself in a an orb of light to avoid annihilating the work of Pateras.   It dawned on him soon after, in his infinite mind, that, in a single night of passion, he could have all he wanted. He and Mitera, in a unity of their love and lust, created twin children, primoridals like them, but with the control that they lacked. Afrid, the Goddess of Life and Avalore, the Goddess of Death were born and, from them, servants were created, celestials made in their image, capable from descending into the realms below the heavens of Elysium. This was not the end of their creation; however, as they began to experiment, much to their parent's delight, creating unique beings, lesser than them but greater than the celestial servants, allowing them to roam the realms below. From this, the Lesser Gods were created.

The Shattering of Realms

Pateras continued his work. With the aid of his children, the work of the celestials and Lesser Gods, he found less and less need for his original partner, Mitera, allowing her to spend the rest of eternity simple watching the work unfold, allowing her to fulfil her desires in Elysium should she want. This was not adequate for Mitera; however, as she felt neglected, abandoned by the one being that she had always had. In an act of wrath and sin, she sought the ever curious Ultis, confiding in him as she lamented in her loneliness. From this unity, a new child was born, one of pure, unbridled wrath.   Pateras saw this, discovering the abomination of a being, casting him into the deepest pits of the Underworld, into the Banished Vale, which he had not yet even finished creating. For the first time, the God of Creation felt wrath, pain, betrayal. He always thought himself incapable of acts of destruction, but the world soon found that not to be the case. He took Mitera, fleeing from al he had created, his sheer malice enough to rip the very fabric of the astral sea apart, light filling the voids that he purged from existence, creating the stars that hang above.

What Was Left Behind

The primordials would never return, leaving their children to watch all that they had forged. Despite being primordials themselves, Afrid and Avalore lacked the means to finish what their father had started, leaving the Underworld as an endless pit while realms like The Nichteil, which was not finished in its creation, to be areas that did not adhere properly to the very rules that The Script dictated. Many of the Realms were finished despite this, much as the Shadowfell, Feywild and the Material Realm, where many of the mortals were actually placed. There was something left behind that was not there before Pateras' departure. As he left, the wrongness of his wrath created abominations that should never spawned from the mind of the All Father. Unintentionally, he cursed the world he had made, subconsciously blaming it for the events that transpired, creating the Eldritch Abominations that now roam the realms, their minds filled with the same anger that he felt so strongly.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Pateras is rarely worshipped, as he had little to do with the mortals themselves. When he is, a globe is often used as his symbol, or sometimes a tree, representing the Rift Trees that he made as temporary links to other Realms before the unification that never occurred. Those who chose to worship him believe that he will return moments before the world's destruction, saving it with the unification, but this belief is often seen as a odd conspiracy theory, given how his wrath, being the Eldritch Horrors, still linger.
