Consisting of only three members,
The Oracle,
The Guardian and
The Sovereign, The Triumvirate is a group of extremely powerful beings who seem to have appeared shortly after
The Divine Exodus. No one knows why they have appeared in the Material Plane, but there are many theories, given the time at which they appeared. One is that they were sent by one of the twin Goddesses,
Afrid or
Avalore in order to prevent cataclysmic events from occurring, taking the place of the Gods while remaining entirely unbiased, unlike their predecessors. Others believe that they are the vengeful spirits of those that fell during the Exodus, defying the will of the Gods by essentially taking their place and doing their duty. The least popular theory is that they are actually resurrected members of
The Obsidian Council, explaining their strength; however, it does little to explain how they are actually in the world.
Who are the Triumvirate?
Two out of the three members of the Triumvirate have a reputation of not speaking, possibly because they are unable to. What is known is that their only speaking member,
The Oracle acts somewhat like a leader, being the one to contact if necessary. Given how rarely the three show up, and how they often operate individually, many do not believe that they actually exist, insisting that power adventurers are simply being mistaken for them instead. Due to
The Guardian and
The Sovereign being masked figures, no one knows what they actually are, but it is clear to many that
The Oracle is elven.
Tales of the Triumvirate's Deeds
Although none of these are concrete reports, there are a few documented feats of the triumvirates, whether as a group or as individuals. One is the alleged involvement of the Triumvirate preventing the rampage of the vengeful dead in the frozen wastes in the
Kingdom of Salardia. Given how this land was the site of the Divine Exodus, many believe that the Exodus and the Triumvirate are in fact linked. Another, more recent account is their unknown involvement at
The Cael Bastion roughly seven years ago from now (481ADE).
