Diocese of Tirafel
Tirafel is one of the political capitals of Akeroth. Known as the birth place of the Hexers, it is the southernmost city in Akeroth, located near the Guilrose Depths. The Chapel of Ostus, where followers of the Five Divines seek their blessing, dominates its skyline. Anvil is home to guildhalls for the Fighters Guild. In the northeast portion of Tirafel lies the statue of Seven Heroes of Illitos, who are said to bring hope to all along the Golden Coast. Muros Castle, home of General Hadar Netsk, lies on a small island just to the south of the city. Another landmark in Tirafel is the Hadul Manor, one of the largest houses in Akeroth. Tirafel has built up a very active military training location (both legal and otherwise), and much of the town caters directly to soldiers. Also, many humans inhabit Anvil because, according to Sten the Ugly, they are "sick of freezing their asses off in Erstone."
Geography
Muros Castle lies outside the town walls, south of the town, overlooking the harbor, and is reached by the gate from the Gold Coast. Within the town wall, there are three districts: Eastgate in the east, Westgate in the west, and Hexgate between Southgate and Westgate. Harborside lies outside the town walls, south of the town, and is reached by the gate from Westgate District.
One of the most prominent buildings in Anvil is the large Chapel of Ostus along the eastern road, complemented by two meditation gardens and an arcade. Recently, rumors have begun circulating of attacks on this lovely chapel, and the appearance of a strange preacher in the arcade area, located across the road from the chapel. Near the chapel is Tirafel's largest private home, the spacious Hadul Manor, which has been for sale by the owner (and apparently not lived in) for quite some time. It is currently rumored to be inhabited by spirits. A second abandoned house, significantly less well-kept, is tucked away behind the Hexer's Guildhall.
Dockside
The Tirafel Harbor is one of the major access ports to the Guilrose Depths and frequently hosts sailing vessels. As such, the docks house a number of buildings that support the sea-bound shipping industry. The harbor boats can be rented by anyone.
Off to the southeast of the harbor, on a large hill jutting out from the harbor, sits Muros Castle itself. A small cove, The Er-Stone is on the western cliff near the harbor, overlooking the sea.
Eastgate
This is dominated by the large and imposing Chapel of Ostus. A quiet garden for meditation with a fine statue of the Five Divines lies between the chapel and the town wall, and across from the chapel is a lovely garden and covered arcade where worshippers are protected from the elements. A cobbled road leads to the gate itself.
Hexgate
The most prosperous part of Tirafel is entered by Hexgate, or Main Gate, or North Gate. The chapterhouses for the Mages and Hexer Guilds are located side-by-side here, with Qinan's Hexers being located to the right immediately upon entering. The Mages Guild specializes in magic (with Trainers in Alchemy, Illusion, and Evocation) and is led by Qinan Vildos, who is both an excellent leader and outspoken opponent of Necromancy and other black magic. The Tirafel Fighters Guild is led by Hadar and offers Basic and Advanced Trainers in all forms of combat.
Many Hexers and hunters convene here to find new jobs and join one of many parties.
Westgate
This is the residential district of Tirafel. The houses here are modest two-story semi-detached dwellings and unassuming. One notable resident is the Elven author Adlar Sunmane.
Harborside
The dock buildings are mostly built for function and aren't as picturesque as the rest of the town. The general store, Carnan's Quality Merchandise, is located here with its infamously misspelled sign. Mira runs a boarding house that caters solely to sailors. Two ships are currently moored here, both with interesting and slightly disturbing secrets; The Serpent's Tail and The Sea Tub Sindrel. There is a lighthouse south of the harbor.
