Kingdom of Edral

History

Foundation

Shortly after the Nelantus Explosion conflict broke out between the Great Houses of the Albenis. The war started between the Elthrals and the Ordeans, two of the most influential of the Great Houses. Soon other houses followed each of them resulting in the War of the Great Houses a short yet bloody conflict for the nation. But finally in the year 24 PM the two families got together to sign the Treaty of Edral. No one knows what lead to this peace but some believe it was The Silver Elk.  

Time of Turmoil

Between the years 53 PM and 54 PM, there was some political turmoil between some of the Great Houses particularly the smaller ones. The threat of revolution forced the rulers into appeasing the other houses, and they did this partly by falling into the Church of the Moons making it the official religion of the kingdom.  

Rest of History

After the political trouble that faced the nation in its early years. The nation has flourished under the new religion and the Co-Monarch system that it developed it grew a rich culture. Despite it not being too technologically or militarily advanced it has managed to hold the Blue Forest against those who wish to harm it.

Government

Rulers

The nation is ruled by dual monarchs, one from each of the main houses the Elthrals and the Ordeans. Each thirty years each of the houses choose one of their own to be a Co-Monarch the two of them will rule together until the next thirty years are up or until one of them dies, in which case a new pair is chosen.

The current Co-Monarch are Queen Liliba Elthral and King Thiron Ordean  

Laws

The laws of a nation are passed by the dual rulers but they are usually suggested by one of three groups, either a head of one of the Great Houses, a leader of a city, or an official of the Church of the Moons.  

Judges

The Church of the Moons is in charge of all judicial dealing. And there decisions can only be over turned by a Co-Monarch themselves, though this is rare as it would anger the church.

Location

The nation is located in the South West of Alben, the small nation is located in the Blue Forest, and has biult most of its cities including the capital Alzuth with in the confines of the forest.  

Currency

Most commerce in the more rural areas of the nation is done by barter, but once you get into the city there are more formal methods of trade and sale. Where there are three main units of currency:

Lunas - Circular silver coins that have the image of a crescent moon on them, they worth the most.

Irons - Coins made out of iron they are a bit larger then Lunas but have a hole in the center.

Caps (or Blues) - A coin that is more square in shape, yet having rounded corners, they are made of copper but often are turned blue hence their name

Exchange Rate - 1Luna = 5Irons, 1Iron = 15Caps  

Education Levels

Education varies based on the social possession of the person and their final assets. Those of the Great Houses are all well educated and will often hire tutors to teach their children. Those not of the great houses, who live in cities or have a bit more free money will often sent to religious schools where they learn basic history, langue, and mathematics. Finally though who live in more rural areas, or are very poor will only know the bare minimum to get by and trade.
