Noyade An Bhrídeog

Since its creation by the newly-Promised Quelveneck Quelevent Serous and Lemesre Silouane Serous during their time as research expeditioners funded by the Memoriam Inanimatam, Le Noyade has served several purposes:

  • Seismic Surveys
  • Hydrographic Survey
  • Oceanographic Research
  • Polar Research
  • Fisheries Research
  • Naval/Defence Research
  • Oil Exploration

In the modern day, Queleveneck and Lemesre continue to explore the Eaux Mortes and Offing of Lumieres Mortes as part of their continued membership of the Memoriam Inanimatam and in service to Cridhe Loch Fae@ as guided along Le Pèlerinage.

Power Generation

Le Noyade has a 25,000-quart fuel capacity and runs on bhreoslaítear (also, lit. "fueled by rage"), a fuel derivative derived from Feall Síoraí's deep ocean laibhe stores.

Propulsion

Le Noyade operates on a magic-fission engine.

Weapons & Armament

  • 10 Il-Dath 4-pounders
  • 12 Gloine-plated swivel guns

Armor and defense

  • Fully-rigged ship: almost 18 miles of rigging, 750 wooden blocks/pulleys, masts and spars carry 28 sails that spread to approximately 10,000 sq feet (930 m2) of canvas.
  • Outfitted for icebreaking:
-Strong, shallow, rounded hull to minimize damage from floating ice/avoid being crushed by sea ice and to be able to push its way through the ice or allow the ship to ride upwards if pushed from the sides by wind-blown pack ice
-Re-inforced bows to withstand hitting against floating pack ice/jagged rocks/cliffs re-inforced by massive structural strength and then clad in gloine.
-Retractable propeller and rudder to avoid ice damage
  • -Skewed bows so that when hitting pack ice the ship would ride up and over the ice breaking it with its own weight.
-Powerful engines economical with fuel for working in heavy ice
-Well insulated on the inside to retain heat and not allow moisture to drip inwards from frozen ice and snow on the outside.
-A good supply of ice anchors, long (14ft) ice saws and maybe dynamite to break a passage through winter ice to open water in late-Anthesis/early Eucatast.

Additional & auxiliary systems

  • Storage space for scientific cargo and provisions for at least a year longer than the intended voyage - in case of magical misdirection/pack ice/jagged rock
  • Variegated entertainments on board: games, library, research laboratory, recreation room, dining room (more luxurious entertainments provided during Monelight voyages)

Hangars & docked vessels

    Boats & landing craft carried:
  • 1yawl
  • 1 pinnace
  • 2 longboats
  • 2 skiffs
