Grozny
A port town surrounded by fields. The fields are pock marked with giant holes because of the preponderance of large insects, particularly Giant Stag Beetles. The town has largely been untouched by the rise of the undead and the locals believe it is because of the insects that burrow in their fields. The town has no chapel dedicated to Baatu, instead they feed their dead to the insects.
A citadel built by the Knights Templar is on the south west portion of the town. The citadel was built before the town was established and the town grew up around it. Currently, the citadel is cared for by Lenim but has no garrison.
Castle Churo, which dominates the center of town, was once the home of Churo the Curious. Churo was the last in a long line of brilliant scholars and magicians. Churo obliterated himself thirty years ago. Since that time a few brave explorers have ventured into the ruins chasing rumors of lost treasure. The few that have returned claim that what remains of Castle Churo is cursed by the gods. The local populace of Grozny shuns the castle and refuses to venture near it.
The town of Grozny has four established religions:
- an order dedicated to justice and law (Templar, led by Lenim - lost golden censor - The Dracohaya)
- an order of contemplative monks who probe the mysteries of the universe (Brotherhood of the Eye - lost stone carving of an eye, led by Kylind, Temple of the Weeping Pillars)
- a brotherhood that perform acts of charity and healing (Hospitilars, led by Pygon - lost prayer rug, Cardinal Sanctuary)
- and the local druids (led by Verditus), who oversee the agricultural life of the town (still have antlered helmet in grove temple).
In the last two years a new religion has moved into town, the Jovonists (led by Kethos). The sect is an upstart and full of unorthodox ideas such as paying homage to the "One" founder instead of any god. The Jovonists have gained popularity, but many townsfolk still worship the gods of their fathers and neighbors. They are based at the Muladhari Temple.
