Anbar Hand
the Silent Tongue of the Desert
Anbar Hand is a sign language developed by the Lhakamen (Human) and Scelorus (Lizardfolk) that dwell in the Desert of Anbar over generations of trying to communicate. While the lizardfolk can learn to understand the words of the human tongue, they own tongue and throats cannot create many of the sounds. In turn the human ears struggle to hear all the subtle sounds produced by the Scelorus.
Though created specifically through generations of trial and error by the two groups for communication between them, the language has long spread throughout Anbar. A relatively simple communication of signs and gestures it is an easy way to bypass language barriers between cultures. Desert hunters and raiders have also come to favor it, due to the advantage of silent communication during attacks.
