Crystal Shell

A crystal sphere ( or shell ) surrounds an entire planetary system and forms a boundary between the interior wildspace and the exterior Phlogiston.

Though solid, crystal spheres have no gravity or atmosphere. They are not, in fact, made of crystal, but rather an unbreakable dark ceramic like material of unknown origin. No force known to exist can damage a crystal sphere.

In Alanspace massive balls of flame and light appear and disappear along the inner wall of the sphere. These are the stars that the people of Aldern see in the night sky. These seems to be in synch with the Celestial Cycle as old stars fade away and new stars are born in new locations. This even when the star Juva passes through the Cloud every twelve-hundred years.

Two stars are not like the others, Juva and Uatu. These two stars orit each other at the center of the crystal sphere. Uatu has the planet Aldern orbiting it.
