Kiengir Bay
Waters of the Noble Lords
Kiengir Bay is a bay in the Codi Sea of the major continent of Ethae. It is situated at the mouth of the Buranuna River in the Craddle Valley. If ancient texts are to be believed the bay was a swampy delta in the ancient past that slowly dried up as the Desert of Anbar spread east into the once vibrant valley. As the lands dried, the river pushed out of arid soil creating the bay over the ages. Like the great sea, Kiengir is a shallow water bay. The flow of the Buranuna ever shifts the mud and sand below the surface, making navigation tricky, though rare impossible. Due to this, and the difficult terrain along its shoreline the bay has largely been unused by any but shallow fishing boats.
As stated above the bay's shoreline is covered in unstable terrain. A roughly arrowhead shaped bay, ending in the Buranuna River in the south and opening to the Codi Sea to the north, its coast is divided into two extreme envelopments. Its western coasts, closer to the desert is nearly completely void of anything more than sandy beaches, scrublands and arid hills. The east side of the bay is covered in saltwater bogs from the river mouth to where the sea meets the by at its north end. While this make the coast nearly useless for settling, it has been a wealthy natural mess for the people of nearby Kara Mara, who uses the marshy lands along their west for cultivating the flora and fauna of natural to the region. The west coast serves them for the endless sand for producing glass products, as well as the arid dense clay and dirt that can be used to make strong bricks. The water of the bay is also teaming with rare fish, that have long been fished out of the Codi Sea. Most fishermen with larger vessels choice not to travel the bay, feeling the cost of beaching a ship on an underwater sandbar that appeared overnight is not worth the risk. This has left a small inderstry for local fishermen in small boats to make a living off the rare catches that are worth money in the higher end markets of Kara Mara.
Overall, while the bay is a prominent feature of the coast of Craddle Valley and the nation of Mysobia, it is of little use to most of the people, outside of the resource on the land around it. This means that the locals largely ignore it at best, but often find it more of an annoying obstacle most days.
