Therions, the Cursed Ones

Of all the residuals of ancient Magic that survive from the dawn of history, none has caused more suffering than the curse of lycanthropy. If religious texts from antiquity are to be believed, during the heavenly war known as the Aggelomachy, Aggoles and mortals, wielding powerful forms of the Anon (magic) created warriors by merging man and beast. Occult text expands this, claiming some of these warriors, especially the wolfmen of Jarid created, could transform at will. Those of the beast warriors that survived the war hid from the light in a world of peace. The generations passed on, as did their blood. Today they remain in the shadows and distant wilderness of the world.

Though extremely rare, lycanthropes can still be found in throughout the world. The most famous of these are the Werewolf of Jerain. The bloodlines of these creatures has been diluted and convoluted over the ages with both natural and artificial forms of this species existing. Though it varies between species and individuals, by in large, most natural lycanthropes live away from other species. Their tiny communities dwelling in remote lands compatible to their kind. Artificial lycanthropes, those cursed through attacks from encounters with another lycanthrope, usually find themselves isolated. They are shunned by both the communities of their birth, who often seek to slay the infects, and the lycanthropes themselves, who do not consider infected as one of them. Only the Wererat of Gonthram seem to be the exception of this, embracing infected people, growing their ranks in the sewers.
