Vervigon Knights
Order of the Guardians of Nopum
The Vervigon Knights are a military unit of the kingdom of Nopum that formed out of the wars that occurred during the era of the decline of Lakorth. Their duty is, as it was then, to protect the Nopum Peninsula from any and all invaders; land, sea or air.
As their name implies the Order originated from the ancient Vervigon that came to settle on the peninsula after wars with Lakorth. A people, called barbarians by the people of the Heartlands, the Vervigon were skilled warriors known for their victories against the numerically superior Lakorth forces. As Lakorth declines the Vervigon took on the role of defenders, holding the chaos of the civil wars that followed away from their peninsula. With the rise of an independent Nopum kingdom this role evolved into a formal military unit and later an order of knights of the kingdom.
In the modern day, the Vervigon as a people are gone, long integrated into the Nopeli people of the peninsula through centuries of marriage. The name remains however as a symbol of strength, honor, and loyalty to their lands. In Nopum to be a Vervigon is to be a beacon of the community. They are keepers of the peace, defenders of the land and its people, and considered incorruptible. Heroes of the kingdom of Nopum.
A Vervigon unit consists of three knights, a veteran warrior of the order, his apprentice, and a sorceress of the order. The three patrol their assigned region, sometimes as town guards, often as wonderers traveling throughout the peninsula. Largely the three work alone but have absolute authority to takeover any local militia units as commander should the need arise.
