Gloriana Heartwood is Alen'dal's most acclaimed romance novelist, a title which she earned by doing painstaking, up-close-and-personal research into every book she's written. A halfling woman in her middle age, she nevertheless has braved many dangerous and even lethal situations in pursuit of her art.

Gloriana is almost always seen wearing the same tattered messenger cap over her curly locks, and she carries an ink bottle-shaped locket containing a portrait of a charming, curly-haired halfling man, as well as the inscription "W.T. + G.H."

Personal history

Gloriana met the Antiheroes during her research into warring cults on Kamekame Island for A Match Made in the Abyss. Straying too close to a tribe of abyssal goblins got her captured and tied to the stake at the lip of a volcano as a sacrifice in a demonic summoning. It was only through the last-minute intervention of the Antiheroes that her life was spared.
She stayed with the group throughout their mission on Kamekame Island, lending her bardic skills (and her expertise in affairs of the heart) to support them where needed. Though they parted ways once she reached civilization again, she played a small part in the climactic battle against Orochi when Mara invoked her aid through Genbu.
