The Antiheroes

A loose band of adventurers who traveled across Freydin, the eastern seas, the Feywild and Shadowfell, and the Elderhaven Reaches on a quest to stop the wizard Orin and his master Orochi from conquering all of Alen'dal.

History

Originally composed of Harmony, Nasria, and Tal, who all awoke in captivity together, they were swiftly joined by Hunter after freeing him from his restraints. The four of them undermined a kidnapping plot by the Cranstons, a local lord and lady of Ravenmoor, and in the process encountered the Eyes of the World for the first time.   Leaving Ravenmoor in search of information about Hunter's past got them entangled with a coven of hags led by Mother Midnight and a young dragon terrorizing Northwood. Tal left the Antiheroes at this point to return to the orphanage and gain more control over his powers, and was soon replaced by Thaddeus. Together with their new ally, they lifted a curse on the town of Redwater and broke up a ring of orcish slavers called the Chains of Terah.   On arriving in Ferindel, capital city of Freydin, Nasria left the group and Mara joined it. It was there that they discovered the Eyes' true scheme: to gain control of the king and queen and construct an entire army of warforged beneath the palace. They fought and seemingly killed Orin, leader of the Eyes of the World, but the warforged activated anyway and overran the city.   Realizing they needed to travel to the Elderhaven Reaches to strike at Orin and his master Orochi directly, the antiheroes sought a magical compass on Kame-Kame Island that could lead them through the poisonous fog surrounding the Reaches. The compass pointed them not to the Reaches directly, but to a massive turtle named Genbu, who housed a lost civilization of giants inside his shell. Genbu took them beyond the fog and to the Elderhaven Reaches. There, they were at last able to defeat Orochi, the power behind Orin, and put a stop to the warforged armies advancing on other nations.   Five years later, Mother Midnight made her presence known again, and the antiheroes began to take steps to permanently deal with her implied threat. To deal with Mother Midnight, the antiheroes traveled across the planes, first to Sigil and eventually to the Nine Hells. While in the Nine Hells, the made allies and enemies with various powerful devils, including archdevils such as Zariel, Levistus, Ruin, Glasya, and Asmodeus himself. They managed to slay Mother Midnight in Malbolge before returning to Alen'dal.   However, their work was not yet done after their return from the Nine Hells. Thaddeus had recovered the sword of Esanihen from a bleeding citadel in Avernus, and returning it to the material plane served as the final key to releasing the entity Nasheein from her prison within the Moon itself. Esanihen called the antiheroes to her home in the plane of Arborea, and together they planned to banish Nasheein to the Far Realm. After a long battle, the antiheroes succeeded in this endeavor, but the hole in the center of the moon will serve as a constant reminder of Nasheein's threat to the world and the heroes who rose to face it.

Disbandment

After the Antiheroes banished Nasheein, they went their separate ways. Thaddeus was eventually crowned king of the Kingdom of Freydin, Harmony opened a magic item shop in Redwater called "Harmony's Wild Magicks," Xant returned to the Elderhaven Reaches and continued his work uniting the country's people and advocating for warforged rights, and Mara sailed the seas and explored their depths.
