Moloch is an imp who was summoned by Harmony's wild magic, and struck a deal with her in order to confront a mutual foe, Mother Midnight.

Physical Description

Body Features

Moloch is only slightly larger than the average imp, and the only feature that visually sets him apart are the golden scales that mingle among the crimson ones.

Special abilities

Moloch's stinger has the ability to turn his foes to solid gold.

Personal history

A long time ago, Moloch was archdevil. In fact, he used to rule over Malbolge, the sixth layer of the Nine Hells. However, he listened to poisoned advice from a councilor of his known as Malagard the Hag Countess, and rebelled against Asmodeus in an event known as the Reckoning of Hell. As a result, he was demoted and Malagard was elevated to archdevil status to rule the layer in his place. However, her term as ruler of Malbolge soon ended as well when Asmodeus demoted her and placed Glasya, his own daughter, in charge of Malbolge.
Moloch wandered the planes in search of supporters to help him reclaim his former position, but was met with very little luck until Harmony's wild magic summoned him to her. Because of their shared enmity for Malagard the two swore to help each other bring her down.

Moloch was once one of Asmodeus's favorite confidants, but this trust caused his ego to swell to the point that he sided against Asmodeus in the Reckoning of Hell. When Asmodeus's victory was nigh, Moloch's adviser, a powerful night hag named Malagard poisoned his ears with lies, claiming that Asmodeus would no longer respect him if he surrendered, and he foolishly stood defiant while his fellow rebels laid down their arms. Ultimately his forces were broken, and Asmodeus stripped him of his power by demoting him to a lowly imp.

Intellectual Characteristics

Despite his demotion, Moloch retains all of the experience and cunning he developed during his time as an archdevil, making him a dangerous being to deal with.

Moloch dreams of slaying or otherwise humiliating Malagard and Glasya to prove to Asmodeus that he is the rightful ruler of Malbolge.
