Session 2 & 3: The Bandit Cave

General Summary

Our heroes are back in Bilberry's Adventurers Guild. Captain Kenren approached the party, he said "We appreciate how quickly you were able to get the last quest done. The little guy you brought back gave us some information." He then proceeded to tell the party about a satellite encampment. Captain Kenren tasks our heroes with collecting more information where the main encampment is located and to take out this satellite encampment. He said that the guild would buy back any goods recovered and the job will pay 50g. Captain Kenren pointed out the location on a map, a bot off the road next to the lake in a little alcove. Our heroes agreed to take on this job.   Colqurt the Frumpish suggests that our heroes find a better deal by dealing directly with the goblin kingdom. He goes to look for contacts in the embassy that will still speak with him. Would the goblins find any of this information valuable? Colqurt goes around to some of the high end taverns in the water district, he finds a couple of members of one of the houses that has had many caravans taken out. He mentions that he hired the adventures guild to take care of this but not much has happened. He is eager to spend some extra money for information on the bandits.   The goblin bandits are a subset of the goblin kingdom Zumuguk. Our heroes learn that the bandits are a little embarrassing to the goblin kingdom, they prefer to deal the punishment but at the same time they are sympathetic to the bandits. They feel it was unjust that the dwarves were not punished for removing the goblins in the first place.   Our heroes get a cart and mule from the guild

Our heroes wake up and hit the road bright and early. They find the landmarks as shown on the map. They find the cave they believe the bandits are operating from. They decide to approach the cave stealthily. There seems to be a side entrance south of the main cave entrance, a river surrounds the cave and a small wooden bridge leads to the main cave entrance. Colqurt notices some goblin scouts in the trees. Our heroes start sneaking towards the cave but the goblins are alerted to their presence. Colqurt tries to talk to the goblins, they are not receptive. Battle starts. The goblins really beat up our heroes and knock Colqurt out, things are not looking good. Good thing Morhek is tough. Fraijae revives Colqurt and heals the rest of our heroes.   They decide to go into the cave and investigate, Colqurt leads the way, smoking on his pipe. He find a bunch of crates, a handful are open with some vials. The crates themselves dont seem to match any of the other merchant crates. Through Colqurt's expert investigations he can see that they seem to be poorly crafted and lack merchant seals. The merchant crates have recognizable features of the Gilded Isle Merchants. The strange crates seem to be the same type of construction that the Shadow Rats Thieves Guild would make. Our heroes were able to retrieve the stolen merchant goods. Hilda kept all of the alchemical vials.   Our heroes decide to camp near the cave for the night.

Our heroes return to Bilberry's Adventurers Guild. Captain Kenren asks if our heroes found any additional leads, Colqurt mentions that he has a lead that he would like to follow but avoids giving Captain Kenren any additional information. The Captain then scolds our heroes about attempting to gain extra money from a merchant directly.   Our heroes get paid and prepare for a few days of downtime.
