Twisting Desert
Geography
The sand in the Twisting Desert is a deep golden red color, the terrain is fairly flat with the occasional sand dune. It is surrounded by the Brosnach Tides, the Gulf of Terrigan, Alasend Gulf, touches the Forest of the Long Lived, and the top of the Spine of the World.
Ecosystem
The ecosystem is very delicate and diverse consisting of a variety of drought hardy plants and cacti, an abundance of flightless bird species, and a variety of reptiles. The land is managed by the Loxodon tribes, they have become one with the environment. The days are very hot and the nights get very cold.
Localized Phenomena
The Twisting Desert sometimes gets really intense sand storms. They are deadly for all but the well adapted or very large Loxodon. These are often deadly for unprepared adventurers and explorers.
Natural Resources
The desert is rich in minerals and salts. The Loxodon violently discourage any mining of these minerals in an effort to protect the species and maintain balance. They view the other races as destructive and evil. The Loxodon live on an all vegetarian diet, cultivating and farming various cacti species.
History
This desert was once part of the Brosnach Tides, when the ocean receded the desert was formed. Archeologists can find fossils of ancient sea creatures buried in the desert. It has been home to the Loxodon for as long as anyone can remember, they have evolved with the desert.
