The Maidenfel Grove
A circle of trees deep in The Great Forest where legends have it that young women, walking in the forest, go missing.
The location of the Maidenfel trees seems to change, said to be to make it harder for the young maidens to avoid them.
Geography
A circle of unusually tall Lothloril Trees reach up, their branches entwining in the canopy, shading the mossy ground in the centre. Inside the circle is cool and still and unnaturally quiet, the ground is made of the questing roots of the Lothloril.
Localized Phenomena
When you step into the circle, the air feels still and the sounds of the forest fade into the background.
The ground is littered with chunks of white rock of varying sizes, engraved with fine script in the language of the Eladrin
Inside the circle is always calm, cool and with the midday sun creating beams of light through the canopy above, no matter the time of day or what the weather is like outside.
Unknown to most, but the circle is a pathway, for those who know how to use it, into the Feywild and that the people who go missing, have, either by accident or design, travelled to that other place.
History
Stretching back to the earliest days of tales of the forest, there are mentions of the grove and tales of young women running into the centre to never been seen again. The location in each tale is different but the description of the grove is always the same.
Despite the name and most tales, it is not just young maidens that go missing in the circle, that just makes a better tale for the bards, many people accidentally end up in the Feywild or else are snatched up by the capricious dwellers of the Fey realm.
Tourism
Any who go to the Great Forest to seek out the Maidenfel Grove would find it almost impossible to locate, it moves away and avoids those with the intentions of finding it in most cases. Many have tried, spending thier whole lives searching for the circle of trees, tracking through every metre of the Great Forest in vain.
