Malvere
The town of Malvere is situated on the island of the same name, Malvere, which is the biggest inhabited island in the southernmost part of The Sea of Tears. It's the main port city for many cargo and merchant ships crossing from Madovar to Astaros.
Demographics
The inhabitants on the island are a happy mix-match of mostly humans from different origins, but it is not that rare to see some more exotic races like elves, tieflings, half-orcs or even dragonborns on the island. There is a stable dwarf minority on the island, who run a big part of Malvere's economy.
Government
Malvere is lead by a governor, who is chosen by the town council. The town council votes for the best candidate among themselves. The town council consists of the most important figures in the town; leading merchants, noblemen, and such.
Defences
Due to the unruly pirates sailing around the waters of Malvere, the town has proper heavy ramparts and batteries to keep the risk from an attack from the sea at minimum. Many high-end canons are also strategically placed on the walls to protect the city, and their reach is enough to deter most of the even greediest pirates and other enemies.
Assets
The waters around the islands are full of fish; some sugar cane, palms and exotic fruit trees are also cultivated on the island. There is also a rumor that the jungles of the inland hide great treasures, be they diamonds still waiting to be excavated or old treasures some ancient pirate captains hid from greedy souls...
History
For a long time, Malvere was an uninhabited and hostile island full of jungles and deadly flora and fauna. It wasn't until The Turbulence, which caused massive changes in the area of The Sea of Tears and restlessness in the inhabitants of Madovar. Some rich, noble humans decided to pioneer and leave the war-torn lands of their ancestors. They made they way to Astaros, and as happened that Malvere was perfectly on the route between this newly inhabited continent and the old continent Madovar, the island became first a great place to sop and stock more food and water, but quite quickly a village was formed on the island. After that the village grew and grew, and now it's a large town, and even if it cannot rival the greatest cities of the world in its size, it is much more heavily populated than even some bigger cities of powerhouse Aberronia, for example.
Architecture
The Malverean architecture has an unique, easily recognizable style. It is a mix of old human architecture, but with an elven and dwarven twist. The bases of the building are usually very sturdy, and the walls constructed with dwarven techniques which are great for withstanding the earthquakes that happen occasionally in the area. The decoration is a mix of elven and human influence, sometimes with scaly mosaic ornaments of dragonborn or early human origin. Flowers and plants are also preferred, and the houses are painted white to make them cooler in the heat of sun but brightly colored mosaics are favored in pillars and on the floor.
Geography
The town of Malvere is the biggest settlement on the island. There are some minor tribal communities, but they often change place and place their non-permanent camps wherever they wish. One of the reasons why the town had not spread as much as it could have, is the thick jungle blanketing the inland. The town is situated on the coast in a naturally formed harbor.
