Betrayer's Bones

Betrayer's Bones are a unique metallic ore that is alabaster white or chalk in colour.    First discovered after the dread king calamity, they emerged after the Betrayer Camille was cast out of Alturis and sent to the Lady of Pain. On his way down, he scrabbled and clutched with his very soul to the rocks and stones of Alturis. As he fell, he left behind his malice, cunning and rage at betrayal.    The effect of these feelings were so strong that the rocks and minerals turned chalk-white in response to his soul's touch.    Since then, these materials have been found to be an excellent resource. Easy to mine, shape and etch onto. Betrayer's Bones make for excellent magically enhanced weapons and armour and are deeply valuable as a material.    However, the resource is finite and so the minerals are becoming something of a luxury reserved for those who can afford it (it is now seen as a collectible) or those willing to brave The Blackstone Peaks to find some of the material themselves.    Additionally, Blacksmiths who are capable of working with Betrayer's Bones are often at the top of their field and many train their whole lives for the chance to create weapons and armour with the bones.    Notably the party have come across the following Betrayer's Bones weapons:
  • Ellena Swarov's Spell Slasher is made of Betrayer's Bones and is thus a white chalk looking blade that is deeply sharp and deadly.
  • Many Inquisitor's Blades for higher ranked and older inquisitor's are made of Betrayer's Bones.
  • Temptation's pepperbox pistol is entirely composed of Betrayer's Bones.

Utility

Betrayer's Bones are commonly used in manufacturing weapons and armour due to it's strange, ease to mine and ability to be 'soft' enough to easily etch a variety of enchantments onto.
Access & Availability
It was once very common to find and use, often being worked on for a variety of weapons and armour as well as art.    However, over time, the people of Blackstone have learnt that it is a finite resource that is becoming more and more rare.
Discovery
Betrayer's Bones were discovered after miners found the alabaster white mineral when they were searching for materials to rebuild Blackstone. After working with the material they saw it's incredible potential and versatility and so it became a deeply popular resource.
