Blackstone
Blackstone? You an inventor lass? Well, in that case there's naught but smog, steam and drink for you. It has a good name as a space for trade and cash but rest assured there's a reason many leave and there's a reason many turn to the seas for piracy... they see a fate on a spike as better than a future in the mountains and their factories.Blackstone, or the city in the mountains, basks in wealth. It is a place for technological advancements, factory creations, weapons for the war effort and a place where an inventor may just find the means to create the next breakthrough in Alturis. The city was first found to be a mountainous mining town that soon realised their rich in mineral mountains offered them the means to work on enchanting and crafting of magical AND sturdy creations. Whilst their town has experienced more than a single revolution and coup and changed hands a multitude of times the last decade has seen the town have a permanent ruler and have been in a 'stable' state for the last 10 years. Among the city's greatest inventions include: -The Warforged Chainblade -Bottled Lightning -Airships.

Demographics

Government
The current mayor of Blackstone is Sindarae Pollet. A female Mountain Dwarf who led the last revolution within the city, executed the nobility in the area and took on the mantle of mayor... She has slowly been introducing change to the city including raising the age limit on when people can work in the mines and introducing basic schools.
Though she has been accused of dawdling in the progress due to a young population and the fears surrounding a disappearing workforce.
Defences
The walls and positioning of Blackstone leave it in a very defendable spot though their reliance on outside farming areas leave them vulnerable to a siege.
The town does not use Crownsguard but rather rely on their automaton forces to enforce the law and utilise their inquisitors as detectives and a way to root out free mages plying their trade in the area.
Infrastructure
The town is solidly built with arcane runic walls on one side, set amidst mountains and boasts a variety of factories and forges, many raw materials and space for visitors in the living garrets (high rise temporary apartments) or the many inns and taverns throughout the town.
Assets
The towns mineral supply and the demand from the surrounding area have given Blackstone a very large accumulation of Wealth.

The Mind of Artifice have a strong presence in the city.
Grinners tend to avoid it unless they are travelling with another group.
