The Keepers

The Keepers are scholars, scribes, archivists, researchers, and tutors. Their books, labs, and minds contain much of the World's history, artifacts, and knowledge. They also work to uncover, restore, and preserve ruins, turning sites into protected land. Their work is spread to the general public through libraries and lecture halls set up throughout the world.2 Based in Isfeljor.

Structure

Attendants are lowest in Keeper ranking. They report directly to who they are assigned to at the time. Archivist, Warden, and Restorer are all equal in terms of hierarchy, but each specialize in different tasks. They report to the local Director. Directors are assigned to a continent to oversee, and report to the Preserver.   Attendant: Many Attendants are training for a more specialized role in the guild. They assist Archivists, Wardens, and Restorers with their duties while learning those position's responsibilities.
Archivist: Scribes and scholars. They record events, work as librarians, and are often the ones leading lectures in lecture halls. Some pursue research, though many researchers are recruited into Paritet ranks.
Warden: Protectors of ancient ruins and historical sites. They watch over these sites to ensure they are not vandalized, and report degrading quality or other issues.
Restorer: Archaeologists that explore and uncover artifacts and sometimes full ruins. They restore artifacts and antiques to original states—or as close to original as possible.
Director: Organizers in charge of distributing guild members and finances to meet the guild's goals. There is sometimes more than one Director assigned to a continent.   Preserver: Guild leader. They are responsible for organizing and prioritizing various Keeper's projects. They travel often, overseeing important excavations, seminars, or restorations.

Public Agenda

We are the knowledge of the past that guides the path of the future. We are the minds that push inventions for a better life. We are the preservers of history and heritage. We are the Keepers.

History

Year 180. Paritet has finally established me as the official record keeper. They have given me the funds to hire other scribes to begin transferring over existing documentation. It will be difficult with so few Script stones left after the war.
Paritet had scribes and scholars keeping record of many events before 180, but it wasn't robust enough. After many requests, a new branch of Paritet dedicated to gathering and recording events and other information was finally established.   By 183, the Keepers' headquarters was established in Lyston.   In the year 230, Dolgos Ebarath passed in his sleep. Egil Bruun has taken the mantle of Preserver.   After many difficulties getting a foothold in Gulgrennjor, two branches of the Keepers are established in Himmgulhavon and Sky Bridge in the year 279.1   In the year 282, Egil Bruun died from wounds sustained on a mission to investigate Hvitstein Quarry.

1 The Himmelafs are maddening to work with. Future Preservers take note of their stubborn ways and secrets. It is best to circumvent their wishes in order to further the world's collective knowledge.

[2]Dolgos seemed very confident all of this would be set up in his lifetime. Much of these responsibilities did not come to fruition until much later, approximately 280. My educated guess as to why this took so long was because of how unstable the world was after the war.
As I take up this mantle, I can't help but notice inconsistencies between what's recorded in this Compendium and the history that is whispered from ruins and folktales. I do not think it will be possible to amend everything already recorded, yet I will try.
