Scorchton
During the Outbreak of The Pining in 10 PW, many of those afflicted with the condition were compelled to begin a migration down to the Rolling Wastes, where, after a couple of weeks, they began construction on a new town, they would name Scorchton. Scorchton still stands to this day, and acts as quite the roadblock to people who wish to travel south of the western continent, as those who live inside, almost all of whom suffer from The Pining, are very adverse to letting outsiders inside their walls. Due to this, many travels through the Rolling Wastes require many more days of travel through the terrible heat, to avoid dangerous land and the dangerous folk inside the Scorchton walls.
Those who wish to travel through the town can give payment to the locals however, and in doing so, may be given safe passage or even permission to stay within one of its many cave like homes, bore in the stone walls that naturally encompass the town. Many will avoid this however, due to superstition about catching The Pining from exposure to those who carry it, and this rumour carries weight due to a dramatic fall in cases after the initial mass migration all those years ago.
Unfortunately, not much is know by outsiders to the town, and what little information there is is wildly contested by scholars who research the subject, implying the towns culture changes on a whim and very often.
