Sin

Sovereign of Flame Sin

Why do you plead to be left in squalor? You are the Children of Dream, and I shall not leave you to wallow in blood and clay.

Of the Four Elemental Sovereigns, Sin has always held the most interest in mortals. From the moment the Dawn ended, and the world separated into Four Kingdoms, the Sovereign of Fire watched the new children of the Mortal World confront its challenges, struggle, grow, thrive, and die. Their lives captivated Sin, and when the world was still young Sin descended to dwell among them.   Since then, Sin has been a patron of invention, passion, willpower and ferocity. Sin has wandered the world for thousands of years in various guises, visiting mortal communities, sharing the secret of Fire with them, and taking whatever they'd discovered and passing it to the next settlement. Sin's original desire was to see mortal kind thrive and grow, push themselves to the limit, and become wiser and more clever.   The death of Sin's sibling, however, changed the Sovereign's heart forever. Grief struck and terrified, Sin struggled to help the mortals during the long darkness of the Demonic Imperium. One after another he saw mortals tear themselves apart to survive, culminating in a terrible tragedy. It was enough.   In the final days of the Demonic Imperium, Sin concluded it was time to forcibly put mortals back on the path of civilization. In fire and fury the Sovereign descended to the great desert, took on a mortal and male form, and turned the sand beneath his feet to glass.   Now, the Sovereign of Fire rules the powerful empire of Sharan as Sin Al-Gawwar, a living god-king. He is determined to force mortals to flourish and prosper, whether they want to or not. Under his rule Sharan has become a center of technological and magical development, but the people there live in fear of the wrath of Sin.

 The Dawn

When the World Before ended, and the Dawn began, Sin opened his eyes and beheld the glory of creation. His heart was filled with innovation, with a passion to create, and to see the works of others come to fruition.   When new Minds emerged from the Dawn, Sin took joy in their presence and their works. He marveled at the things they shaped from the raw stuff of Dawn, and celebrated the creativity they brought to Anacra.   When the Infernals came, Sin watched as they changed the Dawn, brought new ideas, new shapes. But the will of the Infernals consumed the young spirits of the Dawn, coercing them, twisting and hurting them. Sin was troubled, but chose not to intervene. It did not matter what was created from the Dawn, so long as creation continued.   When the Infernals consumed Luminias, the City of Light, and the might of Uzhul eclipsed the power of the Sovereigns themselves, then did Sin first know fear. He banded with his Siblings to resist the Infernal Legions, but his heart's hope wavered.   When the Nameless Power opened the gates of The Silent City and the Dragons burst into Anacra, Sin gazed on the fury of their breath and the fire of their hearts, captivated.   When the Dragons scourged the Infernals from the world, Sin gathered with his siblings to divide the world into Four Kingdoms, that no will might ever consume all creation again. So passed the Dawn, but the glory of Dragons still burned in Sin's heart, and he desired their return.
