Chantry of the Void
The Chantry of the Void is the religious body responsible for tending after the Yanna (shrines) of Aistanar and beyond. It exists to oversee and promote Fallanism, the main religion followed by the Boshaari people. The leader of the Chantry is Lord Summoner Esta Erronis.
The main function of the Chantry is the upkeep of shrines, training of priests and shrine maidens, and promotion of traditional faith across Boshaari Council space. The Chantry itself is based out of New Eldelyn, Aistanar, in the Shrine of the Inheritor.
Despite its religious function, the Chantry keeps a political role. In the 91st Cycle, Praetor Bili reaffirmed his support for state control of religious apparatus. One of his major concerns was the encroachment of foreign belief systems upon Boshaari culture, lack of national pride, and the lack of a respected regulatory body to oversee the Great Houses more efficiently. The Chantry thus acts as a neutral arbiter, away from secular politics or that of the Houses. On most political issues, it remains fairly conservative, and as of the 151st Cycle, this leads to conflict between its Summoners and progressive Council leader Vulas Lufina.
The Chantry is organized along several Bureaus, notably the Bureau of Shrines (yanna upkeep), the Bureau of Summons (Æsimar listing) and the Bureau of Whispers (political wing) One little known Bureau that operates out of the orbital station Iso Shrine is the Bureau of Psionics, which is tasked with the care of Boshaari cursed by the epidemic of [Psionic Metadisease].
Whilst the Chantry officially speaks and officiates in the Boshaari language Aisnaya, many of its inner functions still operate using the old script Aitaya, and many of the texts are transcribed from the holy language Ainuya.
