Ergene Qalli is a
Zaalan researcher, biohacker and Extranet celebrity. Some say she is a
Rectifier- an esoteric school of magic, obscure and strange even by wizardly standards. She is the head of Medbay Two, a small clinic on the
Embassy Ark
Little is known of Qalli's early life. At some point in her childhood, she stole a shuttle and broke free from the decrepit confines of
Teroshe. As with much of the Zaalan diaspora, she had few choices but refused to live under the Coalition's thumb. Eventually she became the sawbones of a stolen vessel (the
BSS Holimion). In the 142nd Cycle, in the midst of a mid-life crisis, she got in touch with other Zaalan rights activists and settled for a small clinic on Embassy, after serving on the Holimion for a record 21 years.
Her personality is rather eccentric. She uses her free time to run an Extranet underground programme,
Qooking with Qalli, where she relates various news on the state of the Stream. Her show is definitely anti-Coalition in nature, and often seeks to highlight the plight of the Zaalans as the Hiderid close onto them. However, her streams are often extremely weird, and she often fails to back up many of her assertions with hard evidence, leading several Zaalans to dismiss her entirely. Hexo-Geni, Inc sent out people to silence Ergene Qalli, fearing that her propaganda might hurt their bottom line. She faked a kidnapping and went into hiding, before she joined the crew of the
BSS Endeavour where she helped set in motion the events that would ultimately lead to the raid on the Hexo-Geni ship
CMS Ninazu. Following the raid, she befriended Coalition ex-loyalist
Kil Naykin and chose to stay behind on
Veena Station. Their current whereabouts are now unknown.
