Kil Naykin is a Hiderid Coalition of Stars operative and former Hexo-Geni, Inc spy tasked with keeping the agitateur Ergene Qalli under control. It is under the false pretense of being a Starlyft, Inc privateer that she joined the crew of the BSS Endeavour. However, Kil had a change of heart and turned against the Coalition, helping secure victory for the crew of the Endeavour in securing the Teroshe cure. Kil Naykin was the daughter of chef turned businessman Krux Naykin. She has gone missing, together with Qalli, after leaving Veena Station as of the 151st Cycle.

Backstory

Kil was one of Starlyft's top "salvage acquisition specialists". Her past was shady, contradictory, and Kil liked to stay reserved about it. Despite her loyalties to the conservative Hiderid system of capitalism and jingoism, she liked to make a strong point of refusing prejudice, demanded accountability from those she met, and distance herself from the more extreme practices of her people. She liked to keep a sense of quiet melancholy about her - a hint of the battles of values within her methodical mind. Kil was brave and fearless. She did not like to admit it, but she was also generous, in a Hiderid manner. She offered to take whole bounties from friends and place them on herself, fully knowing the consquences. She would often challenge the excesses of her own people. Kil was known for her addiction to Root Beer and for her flowery Hiderid language.

Teroshe Plague

Kil was sent by the Coalition to pose as a Starlyft operative and silence Dr Qalli (whilst keeping her alive), as her broadcasts were cutting into pharma company Hexo-Geni's bottom line. This prompted her to join the second crew to attempt a rescue of the beleaguered doctor - that of the Endeavour - as she considered the first crew weak and pushovers. She accomplished her primary mission objective by keeping Dr Qalli aboard the Endeavour and limiting her extranet broadcasts for safety reasons, then left the crew during a stopover on Zindra, troubled by mounting answers to questions that challenged her beliefs in the Coalition. She stormed the headquarters of a secret Coalition outpost she happened to discover by chance, destroying it in the process. The disturbing data she found on-site about the Teroshe Plague's true origins challenged her conception of the Coalition and prompted her to investigate the CMS Ninazu, along with Eire Llir, sent to investigate the outpost's destruction, and both joined the party. Despite her actions, Kil ultimately proved herself loyal to Captain Davi and forged a strong friendship with her. Eventually she admitted to misleading the crew and to her mistakes. She had downloaded data from the Ninazu, and was the one who broadcast the dark truth about her people to an unwary Stream. Later, Kil decided to leave the BSS Endeavour. She was last spotted in a shuttle leaving Veena Station with Qalli, but her current status is unknown.
