Khari Sare is a Mewei mechanic and the Chief Engineer of the Boshaari vessel BSS Endeavour. She is notable for her role in exposing Hexo-Geni, Inc's crimes against the Zaalan people.

Backstory

Khari was, by most Mewei standards, unexceptional. She showed varied but unremarkable academic prowess, and worked as a theoretical thaumaturgist on Nufano, on Old Oak Acorn for years, assisting research into Mewei thaumic augmentation. Her solutions were often improvisational, and sometimes at odds against rigid Mewei convention. Her high principles of safeguarding the Stream against maltech both synergized and clashed with her life as a Starlyft privateer. She was a mostly quiet member of the crew, who preferred to spend her time fixing the Endeavour and fixating over engineering and computer-related issues. She was strikingly adept at hacking and software design, and had developed tools, such as her heuristic data assistant, Annie, that could pore over entire databases in hours . She built herself a robot companion, Maggie, which she uses in battle to avoid coming into direct fire as well as for remote exploration. She was principled, though she is not beyond hurting enemies she considers harmful or despicable. Khari’s awareness of a variety of topics included some theoretical knowledge in mysticism, which came in handy a few times in her adventures . She did not reject new technology outright, but her typically conservative instincts, shared with much of Mewei society, occasionally gave way in the face of her engineer’s pragmatism.

The Teroshe Plague

Despite her propensity to avoid combat, Khari could be uncanny, unpredictable, and fearless enough to intimidate and threaten a crew of Hhrot juvies on Gorass. This came to be very useful as Khari served aboard the Endeavour as the ship worked to uncover the truth behind the Teroshe Plague. During the hardest fight aboard the CMS Ninazu, Khari was downed by one of the attacks of a psionic feral ravaging the ship; she was revived by Eire Llir and made a full recovery. She then managed to persuade Phalari Davi to take a shortcut to Veena Station for safety against Coalition reprisals.

Flowers of Nufano

Along with the crew of the BSS Endeavour, Khari stumbled upon ancient ruins on Nufano. The details of her mission are classified to this day, however it is noted that she helped defend an ancient archeological Acorn from an attack by the Cult of the Arch-Code.
