Mithral
Mithral (43Tc-m) is an exotic, thaumic silvery metal and isotope of the volatile element Technetium which has been subjected to thaumic radiation. Through a phenomenon currently unknown (the Davi-Aegnor Paradox), arcanically-charged Technetium stabilizes into a metal which, when alloyed, enables exceptional resistance to heat for relatively little bulk. At such, Mithral is a key component of fusion power assemblies. Whilst it was quite commonplace in the expanse of the Pyxis Globula, within Tau Elpis it is only found in a few asteroid clusters, orbiting beyond the orbit of Hestia - and its extreme scarcity is the biggest limit to widespread fusion plants and torches.
Synthetic Technetium can be produced, however there is no substitute for the slow process of arcanically charging enough of the mineral before it fully degrades via beta decay. It is believed that natural mithral must have taken tens of thousands of years to accrete - trace amounts every time the asteroids cross the orbit of the thaumically active planet Zindra - and at such it is considered a heavily non-renewable resource in the current state of technology.
As of the 151st Cycle, the two biggest producers of Mithral are the Council's Mithril Mining Solutions and the Coalition's MineTech Inc, their two ships uncomfortably sharing the same facilities at Oyigiri Station.
