The burgomaster's wife Anna is a fearless woman. She carries her grief well, and hasn't lost the hopeful maternal warmth that first drew her husband to her all those years ago. She, like her husband, puts the safety of those in Krezk above all else. She always said she thought of every last person in the village as her own child, a sentiment that grew stronger and more desperate as more of her natural children died.
