The Anchored Planes
While playing in Anchored Worlds, the players will travel extensively through various planes and worlds which exist in a delicate system that holds reality together. These planes of existence encompass every world that is possible in this reality. It is all held together by Eden, and beyond that are domains of raw elemental matter and energy, realms of pure thought and ethos, the homes of demons and angels, and the cloistered dominions of the gods. Spells and magic items can draw energy from these planes, and some can even summon creatures that dwell there. You can also communicate with denizens of other planes, but travel between planes is severely limited and follows a strict set of rules that cannot be broken even by the most powerful of beings.
At the center of the Anchored Planes is the Material Plane, called Eden, or the Anchor. Beneath and above Eden are the "material echos," the Feywild and the Shadowfell. Surrounding these planes like a belt of asteroids are the "transitive planes," the Ethereal Plane and the Astral Sea. Beyond the Ethereal Plane is the Inner Planes, also called the Elemental Planes, which bleed together in spots to create "child" planes. And if you travel the Astral Sea, you will find your way to the Outer Planes, also called the Afterlives, although this is also the home of celestials and fiends. Within the Outer Planes are the Godly Planes, which are "child" planes where the gods reside in a place similar to the Astral Sea.
Beyond the Material Plane
Beyond the Material Plane and its Echoes are realms where even the concepts of gravity and color are vastly different. Not simply other worlds in a physical sense, they have entirely different rules for physics, ethics, and even time. Traveling them is not only a challenge, but an achievement worthy of praise. While creatures from other planes frequently travel to Eden, the Material Plane itself is so swaddled by the transitive planes that travel from within is rare.
Beyond the Anchored Planes
The Planes are not all there is to the universe. There are demiplanes, and unexplored regions of the world beyond comprehension. However, in depth study of these places is now strictly forbidden after several experiments ended in disaster and near annihilation of all reality.
Demiplanes are small extra-dimensional spaces with their own unique rules. They are pieces of reality that don't seem to fit anywhere else. They come into being by a variety of means. Some are created by spells, such as *demiplane*, while others are generated at the will of a powerful force such as a deity. They may also exist naturally, ripples or folds pinched off from the rest of reality, or as a baby universe that is growing in power. A given demiplane can be entered through a single point where it touches another plane.
The Void is beyond the known multiverse. It may be its own separate multiverse with its own planar system and its own magical and physical laws. It is theorized that it may be the exoskeleton of our multiverse, or the shed skin of what our multiverse once was. The beings that live there, if beings they can be called, cannot be comprehended by a normal mind. Occasionally energy may leak into our realm, warping life and matter into conceptual shapes that defy biology and geometry.
There is no known way to enter the Void, and the one portal that is known to our history was destroyed millennia ago, immediately after its creator, the Dread Wyrm, was thrown into it.
