'Heaven's Gate'

For many, meteorites of 'Star-Metal' are considered good luck, and are bound to bring a fortune for the rare metal and gems, but for the residents of 'Heaven's Gate' these meteorites brought a night of terror and death.

History

For a long time, the city was prosperous, and few of it's inhabitants lived in fear. That is of course, until the night of horror. While most of the inhabitants slept an extremely large meteorite of 'Star Metal' entered the atmosphere. Several smaller pieces broke off, but for the most part the meteorite was still intact when it finally struck the planet.   Unfortunately for the inhabitants of 'Heaven's Gate' this place happened to be their city. The main meteorite struck near the top of the hill of which their city sat upon, bounced once, and then rolled the rest of the way down the hill, flattening all of the buildings and their occupants along the way. The smaller pieces stuck other random places around the city. Hundreds in not thousands died before they could register what was happened and even greater numbers became trapped in collapsed buildings, terribly injured and slowly dying.   The survivors scrambled to save those who were trapped but the dead of night made the work difficult, for the dark made it hard to see and organize. In the end thousands of individuals died and hundreds of buildings were destroyed all because of an unpredictable act of nature. Much of the city had to be rebuild, and the main meteorite was left where it came to rest. The city commissioned several sculptors to turn the meteorite into a giant statue in memory of those who died.

Tourism

The statue that was made from the meteorite that struck the city has become a popular tourist attraction, due to being made out of such rare materials and the fact that it is so huge.

Geography
