The Hunter

Out of all of the Gods , the one known as the Hunter is the most like the Primordial Luun , in that one of their main goals is to protect people from the dangers of the darkness and evil.   The Hunter has a patient and tranquil manner. They appear as a 20-meter-tall humanoid with greenish-gray skin and a strong, slender frame.

Worshippers

Rangers, Druids, Elves, Half-orcs, hunters.

Clergy

The Church Of The Wilderness is run by worshippers of the Hunter. All members of the church wear robes of mottled green and brown, with silver clasps and trim, that can easily be hidden to camouflage themselves. The silver is a tribute to Luun, and their influence upon the Hunter. In addition to the clergy, church members include many Rangers and Druids, who use their skills to aid in the Church's mission to uphold the commandments of the Hunter.   Initiates into the church are called "Foresters," full members are known as "Trappists," and senior members are referred to as "Trackers." Paladins of the church are known as "Arrows."   A common blessing of the church is, "May nature guide and protect you."

Temples

Temples of the Church of the Wilderness can be found in some large cities, but they are more commonly found in rural areas, especially those bordering on the wilderness. In addition, the church runs various outposts across the world in areas where there are higher concentrations of aberrations, fiends, monstrosities, undead, or other unnatural dangers.

Dogma

The Commandments of The Hunter are as follows:
  • Show respect for the natural world.
  • Hunt down the unnatural and those that seek to pervert nature.
  • Guard and Protect against the terrors of the night.

Holidays

The Grand Hunt is a holiday celebrated locally by the various temples and outposts of the Hunter. Each year a specific animal is chosen to be the subject of the hunt. The choice is made carefully, so as to not upset the balance of nature in the area, but rather support it, by either removing an overly-aggressive predator or a particularly virile male in an attempt to help control herd size. Once chosen, the animal is marked by senior temple members.   The hunt begins at sun-up one week before the first full moon during the month of the Hunter and lasts until the evening prior to the full moon. If the chosen animal is not slain by sun-down that evening, the temple members who marked it originally will venture out to track it down and slay it. A large feast is held on the evening of the full moon, known as a Hunters' Moon, to celebrate the Hunt, and the chosen animal is the main course, and a prize is given to the winning hunter. If the senior temple members were the ones to kill the animal, the prize is held until the next year.   The Grand Hunt is more than game hunting. It is an opportunity to instruct youths in the art of hunting, a chance to instill values and respect for nature and the animals that live within it. It gives seasoned hunters the chance to pass on their skills and knowledge. But most of all, the Grand Hunt is about respecting and protecting nature and the delicate balance that is needed to maintain it.
