Luun (l-uh-n)
One of the three Primordials , Luun is the God of Moonlight and Death. Along with Suul , Luun created the world of Anide, and the Gods .
Luun will often appear as a large, genderless humanoid, their pale pale skin glowing with soft, silvery light. Changing with the cycles of the Moon, Luun's face is often half in shadow. On the Full Moon, Luun's face is bright and devoid of shadow, at the New Moon, it is completely covered in darkness. Their eyes also change with this cycle, if an eye is in the shadowed portion of Luun's face, it is a pool of silvery light, if it is in the bright half, it is a pool of utter darkness. Luun's body also changes during this cycle. At nearly 200 meters in height, Luun's body goes from full and robust at the full moon to near incorporeal during the new moon.
Luun was badly injured in the battle against Daak and their evil Gods. Their blood was sprayed against the darkness of the night sky, creating the Stars.
Worshippers
Although they are one of the Primordials, worship of Luun is not as widely spread as worship of Suul. Nevertheless, their temples can be found in nearly every settlement across Anide. The temples serve as undertakers, preparing the dead for burial, and taking steps to prevent undeath. It is because of Luun's association with death that many do not worship Luun, and only invoke their name when death occurs, or to beg for their protection from the dangers of the night. Being the god of Death, Luun is everywhere. Suul, must be invited or invoked, but Luun is always there. Luun is not seen as malevolent nor evil, but necessary. Luun understands that they are more feared than reveared, but will offer their protection to any who ask for it. It is a hard lesson for those who join Luun's temples.Clergy
Those who worship Luun are members of the Church Of The Silver Crescent . Known as Nightwatchers, the clergy from temples of Luun wear robes of deep purple and dark blue, trimmed in silver. They often wear masks that reflect the current stage of the moon, and Luun themself. The more militant side of Luun worship involves seeking out and destroying the undead. Known as Silver Crescents, they often carry distinctive curved, silvered daggers. All initiates to Luun's Temples are given a moon-shaped piercing of silver on their forehead and are given the title of Moontouched. The moon piercing they are given has an enchantment upon it similar to that of a Shield of Expression, allowing the wearer to change its appearance to match the current phase of the moon.Temples
Usually found near graveyards, temples of Luun are simple, domed buildings with little adornment on the exterior, save for a white colored glass lens set above the door, behind which is a Continual Flame. This creates a projection of moon-like light across the entryway of each temple, signifying a safe haven for all who enter. The layout will vary from temple to temple, but each temple will have a main chamber, a chamber for preparing the bodies of the dead, a silverworks, and living quarters for the clergy. The main chamber is round, with eight alcoves on the perimeter. Each alcove represents a phase of the moon, and ceremonies and worship are lead from the alcove that represents the current phase. Any chairs or pews in the center of the temple are reoriented to face the proper alcove, though, in the larger temples, they often have a mechanism that will turn the circular center section of the floor.Dogma
Luun's commandments are as follows:- Protect others from the dangers of the night. Stand guard against the terrors that wait in the darkness.
- Do not fear death, for it is the natural end of life.
- Destroy undeath wherever it is found.
