The Smith

The God who became known as The Smith was the largest and strongest of the Gods. They had a stern and logical disposition and had deeply tanned skin, covered in heat blisters from working too close to their forge. The Smith appears as a 22-meter-tall genderless humanoid.

Worshippers

Dwarves, Gnomes, Artificers, Artisans, Crafters

Clergy

The Church Of The Anointed Hammer is the main religious group devoted to the worship of the Smith. Robes are colored orange and grey but are rarely worn. Most church members are blacksmiths, crafters, and artisans and usually wear clothing appropriate to their profession rather than formal robes. The colors represent the Fire of the Forge, and the Metal when it is finished.   Initiates into the church are referred to as "Wrights," full members are known as 'Journeymen," and senior members are called, "Masters." These are religious ranks and do not necessarily speak to members' skill level within their profession. Paladins of the Church are given the title of "Hammer."   The typical blessing given by followers of the Smith is, "May the heat of the forge temper you and make you stronger."

Temples

Temples to the Smith can be found in most major cities and sporadically in smaller towns. Temples tend to be large complexes designed to house forges, kilns, laboratories, and other workspaces for crafters and artisans of all kinds. In smaller communities where it would be impractical to operate such large temples, local artisans will often build small shrines to the Smith in their homes or shops.

Dogma

The Commandments of The Smith are as follows:
  • Hone your craft.
  • Strive to be innovative.
  • Question, test, observe, measure, modify. Repeat.

Holidays

The Crafters' Festival is celebrated on the third weekend of the month of the Smith. It is celebrated with fairs at which artisans sell their wares and compete in games and skill competitions to showcase their abilities.
