The Thief

The God known as the Thief is said to have a quiet nature, but with a quick, sharp wit that would often take others by surprise. The Thief conceals their shape, size, and features hidden beneath an immense billowing cloak, made of the very darkness that separates the stars.
Their dark and mysterious nature has often put the Thief at odds with the rest of the Gods, especially the The Judge. Similarly, worship of the Thief is often looked down upon by most societies. No one truly sees the Thief as an evil diety, but they do see the Thief as being untrustworthy.

It is rumored that there is an organization known as the Church Of Shadows which functions as a decentralized collection of worshippers of the Thief. Few people know of this organization. Fewer still become members. One must prove themself not only a trusted member of an approved Thieves' Guild but also a true believer in the Thief before being initiated into the Church as a "Shade." Once one has proven themself in the eyes of their fellow Church members, they attain the rank of "Shadow." Senior members of the Church of Shadows are called "Umbras." And though they are few, Paladins of the Church of Shadows are called "Daggers."
The Church of Shadows does not advertise its existence and so does not have any distinctive code of dress for its priests. However, upon becoming a Shade, members of the church are given special tattoos that are invisible to the naked eye but show up very faintly when using the Detect Magic spell as necrotic magic giving off a small black aura in the shape of the symbol of the Theif, a cloaked figure with a dagger.
The typical blessing given by followers of the Thief is, "Be Silent, Be Swift."

Temples

It is believed that there are few, if any, temples dedicated to the Thief. One may find shrines in certain Thieves' Guilds, but these are not guaranteed. Instead, the Church of Shadows will simply break into a temple of their choosing when they wish to make use of one. In this way, they are "stealing" the temple for the Thief.

Dogma

The Commandments of The Thief are as follows:

• Take what you can.
• The truth is often ugly and painful, whereas a simple deception can be beautiful and painless.
• Steal what time you can before death takes you, but do not fight death when it finally catches you.

Holidays

The Night of Shadows is celebrated on a seemingly randomly chosen night during the month of the Thief. During the Night of Shadows, many who worship the Thief will take the opportunity to leave gifts for the poor and the needy (these gifts are most often taken from the wealthy).
Though the date is seemingly chosen randomly, it is nonetheless perfectly synchronized across the globe each year. It is unknown how this is done.
