Xavast Crusade, The
The Xavast Crusade is a secretive organization that acts to bring about the vision of Xavast, The Sunken Mind. Little is known about their origins, their organizational structure, their goals, or even their numbers, but they considered a dire threat to the peace of the Merchant Sea region, especially in Aracia.
Arriving in Riocruce in the early months of 5632, the Xavast began collaborating with a variety of local gangs, including the Stormwinds and the Red Crows, to import large innocuous crates and place them throughout the city. They also asked for the assistance of the Pitiful Children, but Maeva de Fer refused to work with them.
Initially viewed as a criminal threat, they were investigated by Riverwatch Detective Alonzo Erzance, but always managed to slip away before he could capture one of their agents. Still, he managed to discover a loose connection between the Xavast Crusade and Omero Vardales, a milling merchant and one of the most powerful nobles in Riocruce. Unfortunately, Alonzo was killed before he could complete his inquiry.
On 19 Belhainord 5632, the Xavast Crusade prepared for an invasion. The crates they had placed around the city contained portals to the Void and their intention was to open those portals and unleash an army of aberrant Voidkin on Aracia - and Sheanora as a whole. It was later discovered that they had partnered with Giancalo Salemanco and a number of other conspirators. Giancalo believed they were a harmless organization, and a small scale invasion would give him the pretense to ride into Riocruce and save the day, demonstrating the need for a strong centralized leader. It is not known whether or not he was using the Xavast Crusade or they were using him.
However, before the group could accomplish this, they were stopped by a ragtag group of adventurers who had discovered their plot. Their subterranean facility was destroyed and the Xavast Crusade fled from Riocruce.
Though a few of their members have been tracked down by the authorities, they have been largely silent since the attempted invasion. It is believed they have infiltrated every major port along the Merchant Sea - and are patiently waiting for a chance to try the same thing again, perhaps on a larger, more diabolical scale.
