Inquisitorius

Responsible for capturing and imprisoning mages that threaten the Kingdom of Argon. Members of the Inquisitorius are selected by the Grand Inquisitor and approved by the King. Inquisitors are usually high level combatants as they are responsible for capturing or killing potentially dangerous mages, soldiers, or magical creatures.

Structure

Grand Inquisitor - Head of the Inquisitorius. Responsible for receiving reports from High Inquisitors and maintaining portfolios of high profile mages that pose a threat to the Kingdom and distributing them as a list sorted by threat level throughout the nation. They also report directly to the King.
High Inquisitor - Also known as Lord Inquisitors, High Inquisitor exist to help maintain the integrity of the organization and to watch over and guide its members. They also oversee the activities of all Inquisitors operating in their region. Usually there is 1 to a city.
Inquisitor - The Inquisitor ordinary. The vast majority of the Inquisitorius are of this rank.
Inquisitorial Representative - These members are non-combatants that observe, audit, and conduct mage census'.

The mission of the Inquisitorius is:
Protect the Argonian people from magical threats and to uphold the King's Law.

History

The Inquisitorius is the spiritual succeeding organization of Cyr I's Mage Slayers. The Mage Slayer order was disbanded shortly after Cyr I's reign due to him being the one personally leading a crusade against anything magical. After he died his son lacked the fervor for mage blood that Cyr had and though magic would remain illegal/restricted magical people were no longer hunted down indiscriminately. Instead they were often exiled, imprisoned, or made to pay a large fine if they used magic(though this mostly applied to noble men/women and the occasional merchant with a large enough purse). Known magical people were also kept on a roster and watched closely by local nobles. A particularly strong mage nearly assassinated the Lord of Galdor citing the treatment of mages as his reason when captured, the King created the Inquisitorius to route out any mages that could pose a threat to the Kingdom.
