The Sanctuary

Written by Pookas Kreations

This sanctuary is nestled amidst redwoods, shrouded in a veil of mist in the forests of central Avalonia. Unlike other monasteries built of stone, the Sanctuary is a marvel of the Tree Singer's art. It is woven of living redwood trees, other plants, and living earth. Its doorway is through a hidden tunnel covered in vines.    As you enter, the outside world fades away. The air is thick with a bouquet of earthy smell of moss, incense, and flowers. Many bioluminescent fungi and other plants gently glow guiding visitors' footsteps.    Sanctuary is a place to be one with nature, the spirits, and yourself. The heart is open to the sky and is surrounded by living plants, bubbling fountains, chirping birds, and gentle animals. All is at peace inside, those that are disruptive, are asked to leave.   Technology is absent within the Sanctuary. They live very simply inside, growing their diet of vegetables, leafy greens, and fruits. They only eat what is needed, not to excess. Everyone shares in the chores to upkeep their surroundings. Meals are communal affairs.   The inhabitants of the Sanctuary are a diverse group, united by their desire for refuge. For most refuge means a quiet place to delve into ancient texts, seek a quiet life of meditation, or are searching for solace after a life of hardship.    Sanctuary welcomes those seeking temporary shelter. There are separate wings for contemplation, living, and working areas, with the atrium at the center and the others circling around it. Here one can find a refuge from the chaos of the world, a place to heal, reflect and reconnect with the essence of self and nature.
