Fort Ornblake
Lying to the North East of the town, this is the seat of the leadership in Ornblake .
A motte-and-bailey castle, it has been rebuilt and refurbished over the years since the initial building was first erected on the site.
The current incarnation was clearly originally built as a simple keep or fort, but over the years the inside has been converted from military to comfortable living quarters. Curtains are now present on the arrow-slit windows, the gates rarely closed and a Council room and meeting Chamber installed. Beneath lie cells for holding high-profile prisoners as well as storage cellars.
A secret escape from the Fort to The Giant's Head has recently been discovered. This is likely to date to an era where the De L’Ornblake family may have needed to escape in case of siege.
