Kapuluga

Kapuluga is an island in the The Spice Islands of Kurundu. It was also known in Milagon as Elettaria.
It is surrounded by high cliffs, with many quays, piers and boardwalks where one can moor and then make way to one of the ladders or sets of stairs up the cliffs to the mainland. Like Mitzu, many of these boardwalks have become floating communities in themselves, with shops, brothels and boarding houses. The main part of the island was heavily jungled. However, decades of tree-felling for ship-building and repairs, deforestation has led to more plains and grassland and even some tentative farming by semi-retired Kerdos looking to make coin supplying ships. 
There is one main bay, crab-claw shaped, with only a narrow inlet a ship wind which allows entrance. Here is a natural harbour and the main city, Cala Picaro, where sits the Council of the Pirate Acuerdos (Kerdos). The best stuff is found and traded here, as is a lot of contraband. Only the best known ships dock here, with most others around the periphery. Many ships guard the waters around it, and whilst all are ‘welcomed’ to Kapuluga, their passage often has to be bought or snuck in if they are not Kerdos.

Geography

Whilst Kapuluga is busily inhabited around its fringes and in the lagoon of Cala Picaro, the main surface of the island is sparsely populated. This is the flattest, nearly table-top like of the The Spice Islands. Naturally, it was heavily jungled. However, decades of deforestation for ship-building and repair have lead to the development of plains and grassland. Some intrepid, semi-retired Kerdos have made their way up there to being to farm the land to provide Cala Picaro with one of its most valuable provisions - fresh food.
