The Dragonleaf Division

Flying high above the city on the backs of great winged beasts are members of the Dragonleaf Division. They take the eggs that the The Seekers sometimes find in the The Great Sky Highway hatch, rear and tame the creatures inside. Most of these are dragons, though an occasional other kind of creature has been discovered this is rare as the Seekers mostly know what they are looking for. The division is small though quite feared and respected, coupled with this they have some of the most funding of any division as the riding of a dragon is seen as something of great prestige among the Upper Class.
"The Dragonleaf Division, with their arrogant riders and their pampered beasts, they're a constant reminder of just how unequal our world is. They have everything handed to them, while we scrabble in the dirt to survive. They're nothing but a symbol of the rich getting richer, and the rest of us being left behind." - unknown

Public Agenda:

The Division's role is to gather dragon eggs found by the Seekers and raise, train, and maintain the creatures that hatch from them. These dragons serve as both beasts of burden and mounts for their riders, allowing the Division to traverse the city with ease. The dragon riders of the Division are seen as the epitome of strength and bravery, and their presence commands a certain level of respect from the citizens of Arbor.   One of the main uses for the dragons when it is not a time of war though is to stop certain creatures from making their way down from the Highway, blasting them out of the sky or using their dragon's claws to tear them to shreds before they have a chance to make it to the ground.   The Dragonleaf Division remains an important and influential organization in Arbor, with a significant impact on both the city's society and its politics. Their power and position ensure that they are at the forefront of any major events or conflicts that arise, and they are not afraid to use their dragons to assert their dominance and control over the population. In this way, the Dragonleaf Division serves as both a symbol of the city's history and a powerful tool of its government, a force to be reckoned with by all who dwell within Arbor's shadow.

Public Perception

Lower Class

The poor often view the Division with a mixture of awe and resentment, as they see the dragon riders as symbols of the oppressive social structure that keeps them down.

Middle Class

The middle class liken the dragon riders to an impossible dream one they might realize for their children if they are very lucky in this life though most have consigned such dreams to the bin by the time they reach adulthood.

Upper Class

For the upper class, being a member of the Dragonleaf Division is seen as a symbol of prestige and a sign of social status. It is considered a great honor to be selected for the Division and many families will do everything in their power to ensure that their children are chosen.

History:

In the history of the Dragonleaf Division, dragon eggs were first discovered many centuries ago in the Great Sky Highway, the vast network of branches and leaves that make up the canopy of Arbor. The discovery of these eggs was a pivotal moment in the history of the city, as people realized the potential of taming and riding these magnificent creatures.   Initially, the process of hatching and taming dragons was a long and difficult one, requiring the best minds and most skilled riders to succeed and each success was marred by many failures. But over time, the Dragonleaf Division grew and developed, and their expertise in handling dragons became renowned throughout Arbor.   However, in recent years, the quantity of new dragon eggs has been steadily decreasing, causing concern among the members of the Dragonleaf Division. The new dragons that are born are also much smaller than their older kin, leading many to believe that the species is in decline. Despite these challenges, the Dragonleaf remains determined to continue their work, taming and riding these magnificent creatures for the good of Arbor and its people. Because of the lack of dragons the amount of Dragonleaf candidates has also declined and they are but a shadow of their former glory.

Rumors

No one really knows where the eggs even come from or when exactly they first began appearing the only thing that is certain is that each egg is found may be the last and if there is some greater dragon nesting in the hidden parts of the tree it has never made it's presence known to any of the Seekers.   The most unsettling rumor though is that some of the dragon eggs have made their way to the black market padding various peoples pockets with the ludicrous cost of such things, if true it means there is a potential rogue dragon out there.

Attire / Common Garb / Quirks:
