Ezra Donneur

Ezra has walked many miles and touched many lives in his many years here on Earth. Raised in a monastery from a young age, Ezra has always been a committed monk of the Way of Mercy: healing those he can and offering a clean, painless passing to those he cannot. He wears a simple mask that hides his face, as his philosophy dictates that his deeds be done purely out of altruism, and not for any kind of personal recognition.   Ezra was also a fundamentalist believer in the philosophy of The Heralds of Aevilok, though he often disagreed with their methodology in practice. He accepted that one day the world would end as a god-given fact, and believed it was his duty to make that passing as painless as possible, just as he would for a person who was beyond healing. He saw the corruption in his organization, of course, and believed that many of them preyed on humanities fear of endings to their own gain, but when the Harbinger put out the call to reconvene in Borne, citing clear signs that Aevilok was fast approaching, Ezra answered.   During this time, he encountered a woman he had once saved from a curse-like illness as a child, Leona, as well as the adventurers she traveled with. Together, they saved a small town from the rampage of a boneclaw (a wizard who made a lethal error in attempting to achieve lichdom) before again parting ways. And though Leona and her comrades would go on to deal a significant blow against the Heralds and their goal of awakening a terrible beast of legend, Ezra's true allegiances would not be made known to them until much later.   Ezra again encountered Leona and her fellows by chance, as a group of Heralds he had been assigned to had dug themselves into an old, cavernous ruin. The party was after the prototype sword in their possession: a vorpal sword crafted by the legendary enchanter Emmanuel Guiden. Ezra was forthcoming with his situation and presented himself as a non-combatant, even surrendering himself to the group and allowing himself to be brought back to The White Tower Alliance to be questioned. With the Alliance, he continued his work of healing and mercy, but all the while, his conviction that the world was doomed remained the same, despite his old organizations hand in hastening the end.   Ultimately, Ezra was able to gleam the location of the White Tower and betrayed its location to the Heralds, who directed a horde of Slaadi to attack. Ezra again was forthcoming with what had transpired and accepted any consequences that were deemed fit. With the Alliance fracturing after the attack, Ezra found himself in the dungeons of Crucible, where he qA more than willing to spend the rest of his life paying penance for his actions. Though instead, Ezra found his ultimate penance fighting in an allied army against the hordes of Cataclysm's Slaadi. While he paid with his life, his actions leant to the success of the campaign that ultimately saw Cataclysm sealed.
