The White Tower Alliance

The brainchild of Aefaren Thrangur and Christoph Heulen, the Alliance was humanity's most organized venture to deter the advancing Slaadi hordes and the Extraplanar Dome that threatened to engulf the entire world.   The Alliance first operated out of Christoph's private castle hidden within the Eordwall Mountains of Kentro, from which the Alliance takes its name. Its location a closely guarded secret, known almost exclusively to Christoph. The Alliance was able to operate across the province of Kentro (and maintain its secrecy) thanks to Christoph's magnum opus, the Multi-dimensional Access Door, or MAD for short. MAD allowed Alliance members to traverse through a connected door (scattered across Kentro) and arrive at the tower in an instant. Unfortunately, the location of the tower was eventually leaked to the Heralds of Aevilok, who directed a horde of Slaadi to fall upon the mountain fortress.    While the Alliance ultimately defended the tower, its greatest advantage was lost. With that, the bulk of the Alliance relocated to Sigil in Requiem where it now relies on the newly-reactivated Antecean Nexus to maintain its reach and mobility.    The Alliance gathered every sage, wizard, warrior, tinkerer, crafter, and diplomat they could get there hands on and began targeted resistance against those that would tear apart the very fabric of reality. Only time will tell if they will be successful...

Structure

On paper, the Alliance was a gathering of countless factions, states, and kingdoms that all had an equal say in the Alliance's operations relative to the resources they contributed. Representatives of each faction had a seat at the council's table and had a voice in the decision-making process. However, the Alliance was put together with great haste in a time of existential dread, and its founders did not believe there was time for the slow-moving machinations of democracy. And so, while the Alliance leadership certainly took its larger council's words into consideration, most of the Alliance's vital operations were decided by a small council comprised of Christoph, Aefaren, and a hand-selected team of advisors. The adventuring party that worked closely with Aefaren were also often included in important meetings and decision-making processes.

Public Agenda

The ultimate goal of the Alliance is to put an end to the existential threat to existence that began in Eodur and has slowly bled further and further into the world at large.    Privately, it is becoming increasingly clear the Alliance (or at least parts of it) have a vested interest in setting up the pieces for a more "favorable" world towards its more influential members when the dust settles.

Assets

Initially, the Alliance was bankrolled by the coffers of Eodur's United Council, though this quite literally went up in smoke when Eodur fell. Despite liquid funding being cut off, the Alliance already had a sizable treasury and after making a deal with the burgeoning Haedian Empire shortly after the beginning of the Extinction War, the Alliance now enjoys funding even greater than they initially had with Eodur. They also generate income by facilitating trade (largely thanks to Christoph's own magic and crafting services) and "renting" out the MAD system, funding from a number of other member kingdoms, and donations from wealthy individuals and volunteers.   The exact net wealth of the Alliance is constantly in flux, but on average, their coffers contain around 100,000 gp. It is unclear how much debt the Alliance is currently incurring to operate, however.   In terms of personnel, the Alliance maintains a garrison of approximately 2,000 troops, many of whom are spread out across the continent aiding in city defense and protecting valuable resources like mines, farmland, and chokepoints along the slaadi hordes constant expansion.
