Ysbetta Sentilla

Picture a stereotypical monster hunter. Gruff, grizzled, world-weary, perhaps a tasteful scar across one eye, a big brute of a man. Ysbetta is the exact opposite of that. If looks can be deceiving, then Ysbetta is a serial liar. Despite her feminine charm and effortless charisma that could put an angry mob at ease, she is one of the most deadly human beings on the planet.   Born in the Sablelands south of the cultural hub of Ensmore, Ysbetta was all but destined to become a musician of the Queen's court and spend her days in the lap of luxury. However, she had a curious streak that would eventually propel her to the forefront of the monster slaying industry.   On one fateful day, Ysbetta had dragged a number of her friends to one of her favorite adventuring spots: an Antecean ruin in the hills beyond her village that housed a Foci. Unfortunately, the ruin was not empty this day: a fiend from the Lower Planes had been pulled through by the Foci, and when it saw the inquisitive teenagers, it attacked.   Ysbetta alone survived and made it back to town, but the demon had followed. The village garrison was able to fend it off, but were unable to slay it. The Lord sent for professionals, and Requiem's branch of The Night's Song answered.   Ysbetta was enamored with the monster slayer and his prowess with blade and magic, having followed him back into the hills to watch him work. When the beast was felled, Ysbetta made the decision then and there to follow in his footsteps. Instead of returning back to the town schoolhouse and her music lessons, she followed the Night's Song agent and begged him to teach her. Be it her relentlessness or his own soft heart, the hunter eventually acquiesced.   In the decades that followed, Ysbetta developed her natural inclination towards music into magical aptitude. In addition, she took a reverent vow that she would never allow what befell her friends on that fateful day at the ruins to happen to anyone else under her watch. In shockingly short order, Ysbetta rose to the top of Requiem's Night's Song, become their top operative and handling a wide array of sensitive matters and otherworldly monsters.   In 1218, she aided in the Battle of Sigil at the conclusion of the Long Shadow and became acquainted with the adventurers that slew the warlord Lazaros and the legendary Tarrasque he commanded. The following year, she joined The White Tower Alliance as a liaison for the Night's Song. During this time, she developed an unlikely relationship with the lizardfolk Zel, something she found profoundly surprising; not because of the "unique" pairing, but because finding a genuine, vulnerable connection with another soul was something she never truly expected for herself. On the eve before the battle that would conclude The Extinction War, she and Zel were even married.   Unfortunately, Ysbetta did not survive the final battle. She joined with the small infiltration group that would confront Cataclysm himself while the rest of the Allied forces would deal with his army of Slaadi. When the group was intercepted by the great dragon Yolgorah, she stayed behind with half the group to fend him off while the main party dealt with Cataclysm. The dragon proved to be her undoing, but fortunately, she was able to be revived afterwards thanks to the party's cleric, Leona. She would go on to live a long and fulfilling life with her eccentric, reptilian husband.
