Atiu Beach
This beach, on Atiu Island, is the home of Krusk's tribe.
Geography
Atiu Beach is the only location of note on a small western island in the Drake Isles. The Tortles prize it for its sandy and warm beaches and out of the way location, making it a perfect location for laying eggs.
Fauna & Flora
Other than a few small lizards and sea birds, no animals live here. Among the native shrubs and grasses, coconut and pandan trees have been planted.
Natural Resources
Fish teem in the nearby waters and a few native grasses. Mats and baskets are woven from native grasses and cultivated pandan trees. Bananas and coconuts are harvested for food.
History
Atiu Beach has been in use since A'Tuin brought the first Tortle explorers on his back. A'tuin's age is unknown, but Tortle sages estimate he arrived at least 900 years ago, no later than the year 950.
Since the 1780's, there has been an outbreak of Soft Scale among the Tortles that congregate here.
As of 1808, the last eggs laid hatched. More hatchlings are not expected.
Tourism
Only the Tortles who hatched on Atiu Beach visit here. Though not a secret, hatching beaches are very private for Tortles and guests are not welcome.
