Session 9: Murder on the Sloan Express

General Summary

Reacting to the words from the sending stone, the party goes to the Two and a Half Ales to plan their next move. Putting two and two together, Pitri knows that Dinkle They are approached by Mother Rhea who offers assistance. Having overheard that Aliñar Daeran needs a new, bigger and heftier weapon, Rhea gives her the greatsword off her back (A flametongue greatsword). Quickly, they decide to take the express lightning train to Nox.
Wiliman Silverkin bumps into an old friend, Brahm Clevus, and his half-elf friend, Quinn, who are rotating back home to Nox. Brahm relates that the city is locked up pretty tight, due to an ongoing conflict with The Cascade Alliance. He relates that the 4th Division was just routed by Alliance forces north of Nox. In the ongoing confusion among the drake attacks within The Western Ranges, the Alliance has decided to attack, instead of helping, while the Western Ranges are weak and exposed.
The party embarks the train and gets settled. Pitri and Krusk try to explain to Aliñar
Xeltor relates that the magocracy of the Western Ranges is up to some shifty stuff lately. Strange shrieks and yelps are coming from the basement laboratories of Nox Arcane Academy. People still talk about the explosion from one the labs three years ago (1847). During this talk, the party (R'kir Dravon, Leif Arrowsken, Roland Dovalan, Wiliman and Pitri) win the first 2 rounds, but lose quite a bit in the final round. Pitri, hearing the final bit about an underground explosion in Nox, excuses himself and goes back to his cabin.
Aliñar is disturbed in her furtive attempts to knit and sew by a young girl, Susanna, who appears lost and had mistook Ali's cabin for her own. Ali helps her find her way back to Susanna's own cabin.
Pitri has darted back to Krusk's cabin, dragging Wiliman along and explains to Krusk that they have more to do than just rescue Deja, they need to take out whatever lurks beneath the depths of Nox Arcane Academy. They aren't sure how to proceed, since Krusk thinks the Ruling Council of Twelve in Nox is in complicit with Professor Grimcastle, Doctor Gleb, and Buddydoock Timbernacles. They planned to gather more info.
Gnolls attack, Ali dies and Wiliman prays a healing prayer to resurrect her in the middle of battle, prompted by a mysterious figure, shrouded in darkness. Wiliman had seen this figure before, it was there when his mother died, long ago....he was too afraid to pray this prayer then. But not now. The figure reaches out and touches Wiliman on the shoulder, and Wiliman's lute dissappears. Ali
