The Orb of Preservation was one of the
Orbs of Power. It was a powerful necromantic artifact created by the
ancient stoutfolk. It prevented souls of the dead from moving on to the afterlife and served as the heart of the Haunted Realm, forcing countless restless apparitions and undead to meander there, unable to find peace.
The Orb of Preservation was protected by a magical pedestal atop
Howlpeak. During
2023-10-14 Rest in Peace, a group of adventurers teleported it away to the
East Ocean beside
Dawn Island, releasing its trapped souls and destroying
The Haunted Realm. Shortly afterward, it was carried away by the tentacles of a powerful oceandweller.
Powers
The Orb of Preservation prevents the souls of creatures that die within 100 miles of it from leaving, turning them instead into restless phantasmal undead.
