The Colorless Hills

Geography

The aptly-named Colorless Hills is a gloomy mountainous region that borders Birchland to the south, The Haunted Realm to the west, The Spiritwood to the north, and the East Ocean to the east. The landscape is ashen and brown, covered in dead grass and charred trees. Blackened skeletons of unfortunate travelers are sometimes found near its borders.

In order to travel between northern and southern Archestria, travelers occasionally venture through the Haunted Realm, Subterranea, or the western mountains, despite the trials and dangers of those places. They never travel through the Colorless Hills, however, as this silent hilly wasteland is home to a dangerous guardian: Dalinax the Deranged, a vicious red dragon known to murder anyone he meets.

Since nobody travels through the Colorless Hills anymore, little is known about them. Rainwater forms two rivers, one that flows to the Haunted Realm and one that pours into Emerald Gulf. Old tales say that the ruins of an ancient city can be found somewhere among the hills.
